Q: Is the league Co-Ed?
A:
- Yes, all are welcome!
 - The EBL has had a few women play each year and our goal is to increase their participation.
 
Q: What time/dates are the games?
A:
- The schedule is a mix of weekday and weekend games.
 - Most games are in the evenings with a few daytime games on weekends.
 - We do play some late night games under the lights.
 - The full schedule will be posted on GAMECHANGER and embedded on the home page.
    
- Each player will get access to GAMECHANGER to view their team’s schedule and RSVP their attendance for each game.
 
 
Q: How much baseball experience do I need?
A:
- Some baseball experience is preferable but not necessary.
 - Team rosters are balanced to include a mix of experienced and new players.
 - Teams are encouraged to practice to help develop new players.
 - At the start of the season, pitchers will do their best to help new players with easier to hit pitches. However, as the season progresses, games will get more competitive.
 - New players are encouraged to practice batting (e.g.: batting-tee drills and/or local batting cages).
 
Q: How competitive is this league?
A:
- Our goal is for players to have fun and enjoy baseball.
 - Although we don’t explicitely promote competitiveness, there is a hint of competitiveness at times especially towards the end of the season and in playoff games.
 - The league does not tolerate any dismissive comments or attitude towards a player’s performance.
 - Everyone on the team takes turns playing out in the field.
 - Every player at the game gets to bat.
 
Q: Do I have to be good?
A:
- No, prior experience is preferable but not required.
 - The skill level in the league is mixed so it’s a great environment for new players to develop.
 - The league promotes a positive environment that aims to support a player’s development.
 - Baseball is hard so it won’t happen overnight. A positive attitude and patience will be key to develop your skills.
 
Q: How fast do pitchers throw?
A:
- The league has a mix of pitchers of all levels of skill and physical abilities.
 - The average pitch would be around 50-60 mph.
 - The hardest throwing pitchers can reach speeds of up to 75 mph.
 - Speed is not everything! Some pitchers have wicked curveballs, sliders or knuckleballs.
 
Q: What equipment do I need?
A:
At minimum, each player needs:
- Glove
 - Wood bat
    
- Wood bats do break, so having a second bat is recommended.
 
 - Batting helmet
    
- Sharing batting helmets is up to the discretion of players.
 
 - Water bottle
 
Recommended gear:
- Baseball cleats (TPU/rubber or metal)
 - Baseball pants
 - Protective cup / jill
 - Batting gloves
 - Sliding shorts
 - Baseball bag to carry everything
