Code of Conduct


Purpose:


The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that all participants, including players, coaches, umpires, and spectators, have a positive and enjoyable experience in the Edmonton Baseball League.


Expectations:


  • Sportsmanship: Treat others with respect and dignity, regardless of their skill level, position, or team affiliation.

  • Fair Play: Play by the rules and spirit of the game, and avoid behaviour that may be considered unsportsmanlike.

  • Respect for Umpires: Treat umpires with respect and dignity, and avoid arguing or disputing their decisions.

  • Respect for Opponents: Treat opponents with respect and dignity, and avoid behaviour that may be considered taunting or intimidating.

  • Respect for Teammates: Treat teammates with respect and dignity, and avoid behaviour that may be considered disruptive or unsupportive.


Prohibited Behaviour


  • Abuse of Umpires: Physical or verbal abuse of umpires will not be tolerated.

  • Fighting: Physical altercations between players, coaches, or spectators will not be tolerated.

  • Taunting or Intimidation: Behaviour that is intended to intimidate or humiliate opponents, teammates, or umpires will not be tolerated.

  • Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Behaviour that is considered unsportsmanlike, including but not limited to, arguing with umpires, using excessive language, or making obscene gestures.

  • Discrimination, Harassment, or Hate Speech: Any form of discrimination, harassment, or hate speech based on race, colour, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated.

  • Sexual Harassment: Any form of sexual harassment, including but not limited to, unwelcome comments, gestures, or physical contact, will not be tolerated.


Consequences


  • Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

  • Warning: Verbal or written warning from a league official or umpire.

  • Ejection: Ejection from a game or league event.

  • Suspension: Suspension from one or more games or league events.

  • Expulsion: Expulsion from the league.


Reporting Incidents


  • If you witness or experience any behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to a league official or umpire immediately.

  • You can also complete a complaint form within 48 hours of the incident.

  • All complaints must be submitted within 48 hours of the incident using the following EBL Player Complaint Form.


Acknowledgement


  • All players must have registered and agreed to the code of conduct.

  • By participating in the Edmonton Baseball League, you acknowledge having read, understood, and will comply with the code of conduct.
